Learn how to lift weights properly

At the Center for Sports Performance and Recovery, safety and technique are the foundation of everything we do. Our experienced team will teach you the essential barbell movements—squat, deadlift, bench press, and more—through step-by-step demonstrations and hands-on guided practice, tailored to the needs of each group. Whether you join us for one session or the entire program, you will leave stronger, more confident, and equipped with the knowledge to lift correctly and safely.

We know you have questions and concerns when it comes to weightlifting. Our experts are here to answer them, including:

  • How to lift weights without injuring yourself?
  • What is the best grip for a barbell? Do gloves or chalk give a better grip?
  • What is the proper stance use when lifting? Should you move your feet during a lift?
  • Are you supposed to lift with your back or legs?
  • How much weight should I lift to build muscle?
  • How often should I increase weight when lifting?
  • How many reps should I do?
  • Should I lift until I’m fatigued, or push past that point?

We address these questions and more with our Fundamentals of Weightlifting Program.
