Tom Backus

Tom Backus is the Associate and Commercial Lead for Amplify, the translational investment fund of Mass General Brigham Innovation. He brings a background of strategy and operations experience in preclinical research, product development, and commercial diligence.  

He began his career in preclinical biotech research at Biogen, before moving to a Mass General Brigham Ventures portfolio company, Keros Therapeutics, where he was a first-day hire. Following Keros’ IPO,  he worked as a consultant for Putnam Associates, providing global biopharma clients with strategic insights focusing on opportunity assessment, competitive landscaping, commercialization, and access.

Tom holds a BSc in Neuroscience and an MBA from Northeastern University.
