Joe Cunningham, MD

Managing Director, Santé Ventures

Joe Cunningham, MD, co-founded Santé Ventures in 2006 and is nationally recognized for his expertise across health care delivery systems, physician associations, and compensation models. Prior to founding Santé, he was a health care venture partner with Austin Ventures and vice chair of Ascension Health Ventures’ investment committee. He was also chief medical officer of Providence Health System and executive director of the Providence Health Alliance, both of which belong to the Ascension health care organization.

 

Joe currently serves on advisory boards for Health Services Corporation (Blue Cross Blue Shield) and United Healthcare. He is also the chair of innovation for the Texas A&M System and on the boards of Cleveland Clinic Innovations, Partners Innovations (Harvard Medical School), Massachusetts General Hospital, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and is a strategic advisor to Texas A&M School of Engineering. He is board-certified in internal medicine, quality assurance, and peer review.

 

Joe earned his MBA from Baylor University and received his BS and MD from Texas A&M University.
