We have been monitoring respiratory virus activity (such as flu, COVID-19, RSV, and others) since the beginning of fall. You will see changes at Mass General Brigham based on the respiratory virus level in the community:
- Mild/moderate levels of respiratory virus activity in the community
- High levels of respiratory virus activity in the community
See below for a more detailed explanation about what data are used to determine mild/moderate and high virus activity levels.
As of March 26, 2024, we have moved from a high level of respiratory virus activity to the mild/moderate level.
At the mild/moderate level, Mass General Brigham employees are no longer required to wear a facility-issued mask during direct interactions in clinical locations with patients. We are also no longer strongly recommending that patients and visitors do the same in these situations.
As a reminder, regardless of the time of year, please contact your care team if you have any of the following below before an in-person appointment:
- Have a fever or other flu-like symptoms
- Have a known COVID-19 infection in the past 10 days
- Have a known exposure to COVID-19 within the last 10 days
