Across the Mass General Brigham system, we work hard to provide equal access and services for all patients, employees, and community members. To provide accommodations for a full range of disabilities, our Mass General Brigham member institutions and affiliate locations offer:
Close proximity to accessible public transportation and/or wheelchair-accessible shuttle and parking services
Handicap-accessible entrances and connection to patient spaces via hallways
Amenities and public spaces that are designed to be accessible to people with disabilities including patient care rooms, bathrooms, cafeterias, and more
Communication access, interpreter services, and assistive technology
Ambassadors and escorts to help patients and visitors with special assistance requests such as getting out of a car and into a wheelchair. Ambassadors are easily identifiable by their jackets and badges
Cheri Blauwet, MD, and colleagues published a commentary in The Lancet Oncology regarding the prevalence of ableism in oncological care. She discusses how to tackle these issues and improve care for persons with disabilities.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to every aspect of our organization. When our workforce is more diverse, equitable and inclusive, we can be more innovative, creative, and on the cutting edge of advancement. Leveraging diverse perspectives allows us to develop better overall solutions to the problems we face.
We operate 18 employee resource groups across the system to create an environment of diversity and inclusion where all employees can thrive.
